Because of Victini's unique placement in the Unova Regional Dex, it is the only Pokemon to have the number #000 in any Pokedex format and come before the regional starter Pokemon within its own generation.
Ken Sugimori's favorite Pokemon from Generation 5 is Zekrom, while Junichi Masuda's is Victini, as stated in an interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine.

Sylveon is the only cross-generational evolution to debut in Generation 6, and was first revealed to hint at the new Fairy-type. It was designed by Atsuko Nishida according to a Nintendo Magazine interview with Ken Sugimori.
Pokemon X and Y, (and by extension, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde), are named after coordinates on a graph, such as the X and Y axis representing up/down and left/right, having them eventually intersect, with the Z axis adding depth.
