Happy #FossilFriday everyone, today we bring offerings of huge cephalopods!
Check out Tyler’s blog post about reconstructing the giant Enchoteuthis (AKA “Tusoteuthis”), for which I supplied some art.

@FossilLocator It’ll be different from the digital paintings, I don’t have a lot of examples atm. Here’s a traditional painted Dimetrodon from earlier. It takes longer to do, and I don’t have a lot of supplies
@ni075 @CambrianShe In some specimens, you’re also able to see the transition between the annulations of the head and frontal appendage and the smooth cuticle of the trunk.
Anyone have a prehistoric animal that just has a very ‘set appearance’ for you? Like, for me, I can only really see Yutyrannus one way. Very wolf-like, with a big, rough keratin ridge on the head. Anyone else?
@EmilyVa30039150 At least part of it is. This is the WIP Entrance hall
Happy #FossilFriday! Here’s something I haven’t done in a while.
Yutyrannus huali, a giant, feathery Tyrannosauroid from the (sometimes snowy) Yixian Formation. It was a pack hunter, probably living in small family units.
