@andrewfarago As much as I like this story, this moment always hit me with a big ol' "YIKES!"
Especially since Gruenwald always framed Steve as being morally "Right" about everything.
I'm a big fan of the type of classic superhero designs. Simple. Classic. Elegant. Something centered around an iconic image or symbology.
But as much as I enjoy it, I also know that it isn't going to work well in live action.
"But the characters are better single."
Bull.
This was about satisfying adolescent male fantasies regarding the heroes, pure and simple.
Black Cat was "More fun" than MJ. Wonder Woman was "Hotter" than Lois.
That's it. Pure and simple.
Just a reminder that two long standing, well developed relationships in comics were completely thrown out because a small handful of creators really wanted their fan fiction made canon, and it led to dull, boring, go-nowhere stories that were quickly forgotten by everyone.
I'm always amazed by the stuff I do that catches on vs the stuff that doesn't.
In the recent batch I did, there were drawings I spend days on producing. So what turns out to be the most popular?
The Superman drawing I spent the least amount of time on relative to the others.
