That same year he spent time with his friends the painters Severin Krøyer & Viggo Johansen. Old Woman (1875), David at the Palace of Saul (1878) & Jubal & his Family (1876-8). His painting of David is a surprisingly effeminate take (reminiscent of Donatello).

Klimt is one of the greatest artists of his time & each painting shimmers with excitement & design. I recommend investigating his oeuvre further & enjoying this great Viennese Artist! There are now a number of great books on the artist

In 1894 Klimt was commissioned to create images for the Uni of Vienna. These include Philosophy, Medicine & Jurisprudence. Also depicted is the Beethoven Frieze of 1902. Such was their modernity that contemporary critics & bourgeois were disturbed

Thread: Bright colours & clean lines matter to me. Clarity of an image is critical & so is the message. As my work is drawn from the subconscious it says different things to different people & can often be like a Rorschach test. Most of all my work is about love, hope & empathy
