One of Schiele’s greatest series of masterpieces is his group of erotic & passionate self-portraits often in etiolated form around 1910

Schiele became aware of the work of Munch, Toorop & Van Gogh & was inspired by them (1909). From this time Schiele began exploring his sexuality- especially in drawings & watercolours. Self-portrait (1910), Sunflower (1908), Hans Massmann (1909) & Dead Girl (1910)

He had his first exhibit in 1909. Along with Klimt, Schiele was also influenced by Kokoschka. Having integrated their ideas he created his own style. The Artist’s Sister (1908), Gerti Schiele (1909), Female Nude Crouching (1909) & Self-portrait (1909)

As children go door-to-door they request that households ‘Help the Halloween Party’ (due to Americanisation this is being replaced by ‘Trick or Treat’). Sweets, nuts & apples are the usual gift. The important thing was the portal element & offerings that were made

He moved to the Marlborough Gallery in 1958. Pope with Owls (1958), Two Figures in a Room (1959), Head of a Man (1960) & Head of a Woman (1960). He continued his pope series with their discourse on religion as well as powerful portraits.
