Sorry #illo_advent, I'm a bit late and I can't do new illustrations this year, but can I cheat and post some old work? I've got a series based on carols that were made as Christmas stamps for the islands of Guernsey and Alderney. I'd like to give them another seasonal spin. 😊🎄

Over the coming days I thought I'd share some of my process drawings for the cover of Otters' Moon by @sbaileywriter. These 2 initial roughs felt too 'young' for the readership. I liked the otter though, so coloured him up just for fun. 4th image is the final cover. More soon!

Can't seem to stop fiddling with this illustration of Beth Harmon. I really am going to quit now. As so often happens, it was better in the first 10 minutes of sketching than it ended up being. One day I'll learn to stop after the first 10 mins 😂

Otters' Moon by @sbaileywriter is published by @egmont tomorrow! Here's a look at the original artwork for the wrap-round cover, before the title text was added. I loved drawing the atmospheric Scottish island setting that the author describes so vividly.

For #FolkloreThursday's theme of the underworld and underground, some jottings form my sketchbook. I'm fascinated by the way the British landscape is peppered with reminders of our anicient connection to what lies beneath. #RuralEerie
