I realized a little while ago,
the Red Rider is missing a couple weapons in BattOp

The shield's supposed to have a diffuse beam cannon like the Dom's,
and the heat sabers in the rifle are supposed to eject

Maybe they'll be added later

...Or maybe that's just wishful thinking

@HaloGuyChief @AhabStudios @180223 Sometimes it's just due to Nagai not really having a rigid design for Mazinger until later in the manga,
other times it's simply due to artist interpretation in how it's drawn.

Either way, it's produced some pretty cool designs over the years at least.

it's mostly leftover details from the concept design that bled into the initial one.

That said, it wasn't consistent and one could write it off as simply design inconsistencies with how often it would flip-flop between this design and the one we're used to.

@HaloGuyChief @AhabStudios @180223 I probably should've clarified that I meant the initial manga design and not just in general.

The eyes are more upturned, the nose is beneath the faceplate,
and the faceplate is a bit taller with wider vents than in the anime.

The OVA version is a little closer to this design.
