is concerned at the idea that she doesn't want to see him, and that he was the one who'd caused her disappearance from their islands. Disregarding this, "Riku" attacks him, while Sora protests in hurt confusion, "But we finally met/saw each other [so why are you fighting me?]!"
Sora of course didn't mean to offend Riku, so when Riku "calls him out" for his "slip-up," he recoils into an apologetic tone/expression. [Just to clarify: in JP Riku says smthing like "It's like, 'Oh, what about ME.' Like you just HAPPENED to be looking for me." No 'important.']
In the end though, Ariel decides to take ownership of her mistakes.
"The feeling of wanting to save [Flounder] was real/true. If I blame someone, that important (大切な) feeling would feel like a lie. So I'm going to tell the truth."
Jiminy doesn't miss his chance to rib Sora.
Ariel demands Ursula prove she'd spoken the truth; lo & behold she had—in that she was the one who'd kidnapped her best friend. Feeling she has no other choice in order to protect him, Ariel relinquishes the trident, and Ursula in exchange lets Flounder go. Another baddie battle!
There's still a little bit left of the potion, but Sora declines the tempting offer, recalling what he'd said to Axel about finding his true memories by himself, w/o outside help. They wonder why Oogie reacted the way he did [idk maybe he was bullied as a kid or--sorry sorry;;]
They accompany Jack to visit Dr. Finkelstein, whose newly-invented "true memories" potion evidently caused the Heartless to show up. Sora wonders about these so-called "true memories"; Dr. F remarks "people lose important (大切な) memories by distortion or forgetting."
Olympus Coliseum
Sora and co. learn there's a big contest being held where they can challenge the hero Hercules. Sora, as Goofy points out, just loves competitions; he'd compete even w/o Donald & Goofy. (I wonder if his love for competition will be taken advantage of later...)
The KH team did an amazing job recreating scenes from Disney films in KH3, tho sometimes they slightly altered the way specific shots were framed. One ex. of this I liked was when they made the lanterns swirling around each other a closeup. Maybe to better mimic another scene~ :3
Scene ends w/ a final ominous warning that does certainly prove itself to have truth to it, as later on after lots of memory meddling Sora shows changes in his demeanor that prompt Goofy, Donald, & Jiminy to worry what happened to him. The ? is, does this still apply post-KH3...?
and so is Donald, haha. (Idk if it's of any significance but 邪魔 comes up at a certain part later so I'm keeping tabs on it too) {also BIG "likely NOT but just in case"- the kanji in "確かめる" happens to be the base of a certain term that comes up in KH3 assoc'd w/ Riku so🤷♀️}
