For Mahito, I would assume his ideal form to be more elusive, maybe with many long limbs that can easily touch others..
Yuji being considered it's self proclaimed arch nemesis also influenced this final form that allows it to scrap & tank hits also..

It's interesting that she can make this sort of exchange while barely alive. Leads me to believe 'all of me' also includes her soul.. Something which may set up some sort of future return or unique interaction our side can take advantage of..
