When he couldn’t be quiet
And the field mice all bolted their doors.
Now Seamus is banished,
His dreams of fame vanished,
He wanders the moors in his plaid.

Erik Øttersøn had lived near water his whole life. He'd seen the ocean in all its aspects: terrifying and turbulent; nourishing and bountiful. Someday, he thought, he might slip into the waters and swim out, and never come back. Until then, though, there were more fish waiting.

Rainier cherries! Man, I love them. I buy way too many and eat them by the pound. Took a minute to draw them today too.

The deep-sea anglerfish that washed ashore in California made me want to read about this species (and draw it). This one is shown here with her soon-to-be dinner, a biofluorescent snailfish.
