Shuntei came to the capital Tokyo in 1890, to learn painting from Eisen as a pupil.
He was good at painting people, especially children and ladies in soft brush touch. He created many of the works of the illustrations of magazines and novels.

明治23年、春汀は得意であった画業を志して上京し、富岡永洗のもとで絵を学びました。
浮世人物画を極めた春汀は特に柔らかな子供絵や美人画を得意とし、雑誌や新聞の挿絵など多く手掛けています。

国綱「鞍馬山武術之図」

中央で剣を振るうのは牛若丸、のちの源義経です。
伝説によると、自分の出生を知った牛若丸は、僧になることを拒否して鞍馬山を駆け回り、武芸に励んだ鞍馬山で天狗の面を被った落人から剣術の手解きを受けたとされています。

古原は、不可思議で、魅力的で、そして時に悲しい歴史を伝えていた伝承を基に、自身の思い出や体験が交じり合った「夢の中」のような世界を作品に落とし込んでいます。

そうめい堂コンテンポラリーに新しいプライマリーアーティスト、古原汐理が加わりました。

岩手県は「民話の里」とも呼ばれるほど民間信仰・伝承等の古い言い伝えが残る地です。幼少期を岩手県で過ごした古原は、一緒に暮らしていた祖父母から多くの伝承を伝え聞いていたといいます。

He became a popular illustrator at the Bungei Club, where he painted 52 illustrations in 13 years, and also contributed illustrations to many books of literary novels. (2/2)
