暁斎「海上安全万代寿」

暁斎は天保8年に国芳に入門するも、天保11年には狩野派の絵師前村洞和に再入門。洞和は暁斎の画才を愛し、「画鬼」と呼んだといいます。安政5年に狩野派を離れて「惺々狂斎」と号し浮世絵を描き始めると、戯画・風刺画で人気を博しました。
