13) AV-X0 Type Zero

A great evil doppelganger for the Ingram. The sleeker, more angular design is already fantastic, but the adition of the opening face face revealing a glowing monoeye and the way it strikes with an extending claw hand push it into Extremely Cool territory.

10) Queadluun-Rau

Absolutely adore all of Miyatake's designs for SDF, the Rau especially. Perfectly alien, its ability to fluidly zip around in any direction and its well-stocked missile pods make it feel like a genuine match for the VFs in a way the Glaug or Ger never manage.

It's a robot skeleton with scythe blades on its head and missiles in its eyes.

6) Gustaff

Love this chunky, charming design a ton; I'm a sucker for mecha with chunky shoulders and hands. The Misadventures of Tron Bonne incarnation with the closed cockpit is definitely my favorite version, the underbite style mouth is and big green eyes are great.

The Bigfoot really captures Dougram's distinctly grounded, less flashy military aesthetic so well. Chunky and comparably practical, with a softer design than the Dougram that doesn't borrow from the Zaku as much as the Round Facer..

3) VF-2SS Valkyrie

Much as I really love the original VF-1 design, Ohata's revisions with the VF-2 hit a perfect balance. Updating the original design to make it sleeker without making it look too fragile, with some stellar shots of more exaggerated proportions by Obari.
