#OTD in 1942 the Germans tested a 30 mm MK 101 gun mounted on an Hs 129 against a knocked out KV-1 tank. 106 shots were fired across 27 passes, only 12 hit and 2 penetrated the armour (one by hitting a weld seam). #tanks #history #WW2

#OTD in 1946 IS-3 tanks drove through Red Square for the first time. These tanks had a great effect as boogeymen for Western armies, even though production ended that same year in favour of the IS-4. #tanks #history #coldwar
