Loud noises often physically hurt me, but you start blaring some power metal and I am there! Give me Sabaton! Give me Blind Guardian! Give me Manowar! Loud noises? Boo! Loud metal music? Yay!

Many issues with Sia's movie could've been avoided if she'd had more autistic people involved in the creation process. Nothing about us without us. But instead of owning up to her mistakes she's doubled down, and has been attacking any autistics who criticize the trailer. 1/2
Self-diagnosis is the one topic that has gotten me the most backlash, but it's never changed my mind. I've read too many stories about why someone can't get a diagnosis, or is currently in a multi year battle just to get one. Self-diagnosis doesn't cause harm. Gatekeeping does.
People refuse to believe that it's genetics. I'm not sure if it's because they don't want to admit that they could be the reason for their child's autism, and just want to blame everything else, or what, but this pseudo-science needs to stop.

So, after over two years I've finally decided to give my character's names. Not really so I can name them within my comic, but so I can more easily talk about them outside of my comic. 1/2
November 13th is International Day of Kindness, and Autism Speaks has been promoting it by encouraging others to be kinder to autistic people, and the hypocrisy is just palpable. They do so much harm to autistics. I'd be laughable if it wasn't so frustrating.

I've never been able to "just be me" without being labelled. I think it's one reason why, even to this day, I mask so much. At least with the label of autistic it's one that I like, and feel a connection to. I'm proud to be autistic.

The neurodivergent community is a lot bigger than many people realize. Having any condition that makes your neurology diverge from the typical makes you neurodivergent. If you have one or more of these conditions than welcome to the family!

Functioning labels don't simplify anything. What they do is cause some to make harmful assumptions. "High functioning? You're basically not autistic. Low functioning? You can't do anything." If you want to discuss a person's autism do it in a way that said person would prefer.
When the autistic mind gets going it tries to analyze it's own thought process, and then tries to analyzes the thought process of that thought process, and so on and so on in a never ending loop. I'm not inattentive, my mind is just busy.
