St. Frances of Rome

Her father overruled her desire to become a nun, at his wish she married. Her ordinary food was dry bread, she would exchange with beggars good food for their hard crusts. She had constant sight of her Angel. She died on the day she foretold, March 9, 1440.

Our Lady of Lourdes (1858)

The first of the eighteen apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous took place at Lourdes on February 11, 1858. On March 25th, when Bernadette asked the beautiful Lady Her name, She replied: I am the Immaculate Conception.

St. Martina, Martyr

A noble virgin of Rome, the daughter of a Consul. Martina openly testified to her Christian faith. She was arrested under the emperor Alexander Severus and commanded to worship false gods. She refused, was tortured and was finally beheaded in 226.

St. Polycarp, Martyr

Bishop of Smyrna, he was a disciple of St. John the Evangelist. He was arrested by the Roman proconsul and burned to death for refusing to renounce Christ. When the fire was lighted, it did him no harm; therefore he was stabbed, and his dead body was burnt.
