'The Greek Festival'~Simeon Solomon, (1873)

This picture shows two figures striding forward. The woman on the left is wearing a dark pink dress with a white cloth draped around her arms and tied around her waist. On the right is a second figure wearing a dark blue dress.

'Irish Battle Scene'~ Constance Countess Markievicz, (1949)

A scene showing a group of seven Irish warriors on horseback carrying spears. The warriors are dressed in toga-like garments and have strapped sandals, the straps reaching to the knees.

'Austin Clarke'~ Lilian Lucy Davidson, (1954)

Full-face, half-length portrait of a man (Austin Clarke) sitting at a table with a green pencil in his hand. He wears a plain gold ring on the third finger of his right hand and a larger ring on his left hand. He wears a mauve tie.

This is a two colour planogaphic print (lithograph) on paper, depicting three white birds in flight. Anne Yeats was a daughter of the poet William Butler Yeats and a niece of the painter Jack B. Yeats and botanic artist Elizabeth Yeats.

A Georgian street through which an electric tram moves and electric street lamps are shown against a blue night sky. A large number of people throng the pavements and there is further traffic on the wet road.

'Eagle'~ Jack Coughlin, (1971)

This is a colour intaglio print (etching and aquatint) on paper depicting an eagle with outstretched wings. The texture on the eagle's body was created by a technique called sugar lift.

'Primulas'~ Francis Edward James, (1912)

Across the lower part of this watercolour are pink and mauve flowers (primulas) spread out against brown stems and green leaves. The background is washed in blue, grey and pink.

'The Advance Guard'~ Georges Bertin Scott, (1905)

This watercolour shows two soldiers on horses trotting along a country road. On both sides of the road can be seen green grass with wild red flowers dotted around. Behind the soldiers are green fields as far as the horizon.
