We have just acquired this superb watercolor of Bridgnorth by Veronica Burleigh (1909–1998) the daughter of the artist C H H Burleigh, she studied at Slade 1927–30, under Henry Tonks. A self portrait by Burleigh recently sold at auction in London for £15K on the hammer.

A very happy Boxing day to all our followers. Image is Family at Christmas Dinner by Maurice Wade from circa 1958. Echo's of The Conspiracy of Claudius Civilis by Rembrandt with light emanating from the table dispite there being no obvious light source.

JUST SOLD: Bringing Home Joey by Nick Evans. It would be hard to imagine a more powerful (& sorrowful) painting. Family members & his work colleagues carrying Joey's dead body home to his parents. Sadly, not that uncommon in South Wales mining communities a 100 years ago.

As a result of some 1st class detective work by one of our clients we now know the location of Maurice Wade's Bridges over Canal II. It is Bridge 75 on the Macclesfield canal at Hightown, Congleton, on the opposite side of the road to the railway station.
