With the focus on Ubirajara lately, I think it's a good time to point out that the AMNH has a large collection of Brazilian fossils that were acquired illegally. It includes pterosaurs like this Anhanguera sp. (AMNH 22555) as well as a multitude of fishes and invertebrates.
Thanks to @denis__draws I found out that Groenlandaspis had a reddish dorsal side and silvery, iridescent scales on its flanks and underside. This coloration reminds me a lot of lampriforms like opah, ribbonfishes, and oarfishes.
@denis__draws Tfw people interpret your fossils without considering taphonomy and anatomy
@_themingau There is another one too where the Allosaurus got hit in the pubis!
Wow this paper really used dinosaur toys to estimate volume/mass and called them "scientifically accurate palaeoreconstructions".
I'm starting to wonder if "Stegosaurus" sulcatus is really a dacentrurine related to Miragaia/Alcovasaurus. Dermal spines from "S." sulcatus (left) compared with a spine from Miragaia longicollum (right).
@dadrummondart The Permo-Triassic titanopterans like Gigatitan and the Cretaceous cockroach Manipulator are some prehistoric examples.
@nyrorosaurus Yes some artists have depicted it this way, like this piece by @MarkWitton.
