Part of 1835 plan of the then proposed #Dundee & #Arbroath #railway. This was Dundee's second railway & construction of its approach to Dundee moved the shoreline. This provided new land for building at time when Dundee was expanding due to the #Industrialrevolution #archives

This diseased larynx drawn by Neil Stewart in 1852 is part of an incredible series of watercolours of various parts of the body. The medical comments are by pathologist William Tennant Gairdner.

Happy #StAndrewsDay. We have strong St Andrews connections as from the 1890s until 1967 @dundeeuni (as University College, #Dundee & later Queen's College, Dundee) was part of @univofstandrews - so lots of our #archives relate to both institutions

We hope you had a good journey to the city. Did you you come by train? Sadly, the first Tay Bridge ended in tragedy, but the second, begun 1882 & opened 1887 (think McGonagall wrote a poem about this) is still going strong #BAVS2019

Highlights from our rare book exhibition. These tattoo flash sheets by Lisa & Steven were inspired by images from the books. The combination of tattoo-style aesthetics and these illustrations has proved popular. Several people now have these tattoos.
