In this painting by Henry Fuseli we see Oedipus with his daughters receiving his summons for death, at this point in the story he is blind so you can see him listening to the thunder foreshaddowing his death!

In the myth, Echo fell in love with Narcissus who on seeing his reflection in a fountain, became infatuated with it and despised Echo. Waterhouse has represented the self-absorption of Narcissus as he looks downwards oblivious of Echo.
