These look like Shirley poppies to me, my mum is called Shirley because she was born on 10 November and Shirley poppies where the poppies on Flanders.

We've had a theme request - MARITIME - so a story: 'HM Frigate Birkenhead' by Burgess and 'The Wreck of the Birkenhead' by Hemy. It was when this ship was foundering that the call for 'woman & children first' was 1st used. For many years it was known as the Birkenhead Drill
