Politically Melanchthon would be involved along with Luther in writing the Articles of Schwabach in 1529 which preceded the crucially important Augsburg Confession in 1530 (An illustration of the first 21 articles by Wenceslas Hollar below)
Luther was a significant influence on Melanchthon who would came at the University of Wittenberg at Luther's recommendation. Here we see his disputations with catholic prelate Johann Eck (shown below) in 1519 via Defensio contra Johannem Eckium.
