59. Coming Back by Jessi Zabarsky (2022) - beautiful illustrations and environment creations. Very confusing and amorphous plot that was difficult to interpret at times. Relatable themes since it was written during the pandemic, didn't understand how timelines fit together.

19. The Most Dazzling Girl in Berlin by Kip Wilson (2022) - about an 18-year-old orphan girl looking for a family and a home, finding it in a queer cabaret, while the Nazis are starting to come into power. Fast-paced, great story, no idea why it was written in verse.

51. Library Wars: Love & War v2 by Kinami Watabe & Kiiro Yumi (2008) - we get our first real raid, Dojo continues to be angry about being in love with Iko, Iko remains awkward and troublesome and I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!

47. Library Wars: Love & War v1 by Kiiro Yumi & Kinami Watabe (2008) - government bans books so library creates an army to stop them. Toss in what feels like it might turn into enemies-to-lovers romance, & HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS SERIES?! Put it all in my EYEBALLS! 😍

Am I allow to make this my new Twitter banner? From the new Infinity comic from Nao Fuji called Marvel Meow. It’s kind of like It’s Jeff! but with cats and an adorable Bucky, Natasha, and Carol.

42. Evil Thing by Serena Valentine & Arielle Jovellanos (2021) - uses art similar to the Disney classic for a Cruella origin story that frames the villainess as going crazy to win her cold mother's love. Fun framing and good way of tying elements of the known story into a prequel

30. Tidesong by Wendy Xu (2021) - I wish I'd had this comic as a kid so I would have learned that the angry screaming voice in my head wasn't just me. Beautifully whimsical art in a middle grade book with a useful message about self-confidence and trust.

29. Lure by Lane Milburn (2021) - I don't know if I'm smart enough to read Fantagraphic books anymore. Examining the place of art in a world bought and sold by the rich and powerful. By the end I felt like I didn't "get" it. The worst of humanity follows it to all planets.

24. Stage Dreams by Melanie Gillman (2019) - a picture book length graphic novel about ladies stealing confederate secrets during the Civil War and falling in love. Art made it feel like a kid's picture book, which isn't a bad thing. Wish it had been a bit deeper/longer.

22. Angel of Death by Olivier Grenson & Sylvie Roge (2022) - starts out sad, ends traumatizing, but the story is well-paced, water colored art makes everything feel a bit dreamy, and the sense of doom slowly builds in a way that's perfect for the story. Very French.
