Everything about Batman Family Adventures is perfect, but this is one of the more perfect moments. It even makes me like Jason!
Just found the English translated versions of the original Library Wars light novels on https://t.co/Dk1dLS3L93, and I might cry.
72. Himawari House by Harmony Becker (2021) - slice of life in a shared house in Japan. Speech bubbles often have kanji and English translation. Character design sometimes a little confusing, but the story is heartfelt and poignant about finding yourself post-high school.
25. Bitter by Akwaeke Emezi (2022) - a city in upheaval, a little too close to reality, suddenly turns into a story involving large vengeful monsters and moral issues of what good people should do to defeat the bad. Loved the language and the moral greyness of everything.
Lugged three very heavy boxes to #txla22 exhibit hall and my arms are already dead. Apparently I need more Pilates.d
68. Moon Knight collection by Jeff Lemire & Greg Smallwood (2018) - a fun deconstruction of the Moon Knight character that you shouldn't think too hard about. Multiple art styles meld together well and I had a hard time putting it down.
67. Library Wars v3 by Kiiro Yumi (2009) - my love for this story keeps growing and growing. Hating that you're in love with someone is the best manga trope. This volume has a lot more violent book protecting action, too.
63. Zatanna: The Jewel of Gravesend by Jacquelin De Leon & Alys Arden (2022) - I wanted so much more out of this. It's fun until the end when it gets rushed and messy. The art felt sloppy, like an new artist still trying to find their style. Hope it's bc it was an eARC.
62. Marshmallow & Jordan by Alina Chau (2021) - I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!! Adorable baby elephant meets wheelchair using girl, helps her discover water polo since she can't play basketball anymore. Great use of themes, colorful illustrations, so much fun.
60. The Poe Clan v1 by Moto Hagio (2019) - British-set vampire manga that is fun and stylized until suddenly one of the vampires is no longer a vampire despite having died as a vampire child? Got very confused and put me off much of the book afterwards.
