First batches of sketches from the kickstarter rewards have been delivered. If you qualified for a sketch let me know what you wanted me to draw! I will be doing them this month. Don't miss out!
Like the other species, the monkey people are inspired by Mesoamerican myths and can be found throughout the region. Monkeys in Aztec myths were associated with Quetzalcoatl, and in Maya myths they feature in the Popol Vuv and they are sometimes depicted as scribes in their art.
Today we will look at the macaw people of Dream Rider. But first, to explore more of this world and to make this mesoamerican scifi happen, please donate to and/or share our @kickstarter !

Mesoamerica has a longstanding history of quality medicine, and in Dream Rider, this is no exception. The uniform for Tiuhtlan’s doctors is inspired by the black paint of Ixtlilton, the Nahua god of medicine and healing.
Along with the crocodile people, the giants are among the oldest sentient beings in Tiuhtlan. After various conflicts with humans and other sentient beings, they were fenced away into a “park” and hold no representation or agency in their own future.
Anchans mostly live underwater but have both lungs and gills which they use interchangeably. Clashes with land dwellers are common in Tiuhuacan due to an increase in water pollution which is an extreme environmental and health concern for their community.
Anchans living in Tiuhtlan are split between three dominant cultures and can be found in Chikchan, Akua, and Tiuhuacan. In fact, they were the first inhabitants of the now bustling capital Tiuhuacan and are still a strong presence in the city’s aquatic sector.
If they move about the surface they do so nocturnally as the sunlight burns their skin. The stone people still worship Chalchiuhtlicue as their true sun and believe Tonatiuh to be a usurper. For this reason, their principal city of Yavi has a giant statue of this goddess.
These were inspired by Mixtec myths of the stone people where, like in the codices, they have large eyes, sharp teeth and colorful rock-like skin. In Dream Rider their large eyes help them see underground and at night.
Wiki is a colleague and good friend to our main protagonist, Nakawe. He also happens to be a major conspiracy theorist who enjoys biking and a good cup of tea. Check out what else this wacky guy’s into by sharing/ donating to our comic’s @kickstarter !
