Solid animation and art style. It’s a good adaptation of the video game, but it would have functioned a lot better as a feature film instead of a show.

Game [20/15] — Quantum Break —[B+]

Visuals are stunning. Shooter gameplay is unique and smooth. Story can be confusing and hard to follow but it is presented in a compelling way. Definitely stands out amongst other story focused shooters.

Movie [73/200] — The Gray Man — [C+]

If you like action, this movie has a lot of it and it’s all pretty well done. The characters are underdeveloped and the story isn’t very unique or good. Of the generic action movies Netflix has made, this is one of the better ones.

Movie [67/200] — Saint Maud — [C+]

Beautifully shot. Every frame looks stunning. Morfydd Clark’s performance is unnerving and compelling to watch. The horror is subtle and contained. It’s mostly a character study with well written themes focused on religion.

Show [28/50] — Stranger Things — [A-]

Has a lot of plotlines that felt like could have been cut and it started off in a way I didn’t enjoy, but the emotional payoff is amazing, especially as the season goes on. Epic and grand scale. Excellent acting from everyone. Great TV.

Movie [64/200] — The Black Phone — [A-]

A unique twist on a kidnapping story. Well paced with hardly a slow moment. Ethan Hawke is great as the villain. Does a great job with its suspense and has effective scares. Solid horror film.
