The noble tradition of big and complex Citroën estates continued into a new decade with the 1991 introduction of the load-carrying version of the XM, which took up the CX Safari's baton. This UK brochure called it 'an estate car unlike any other'. #carbrochure #Citroen
Its name looks like a misprint but there really was a Ford Tierra, built by the company's outpost in Taiwan, Ford Lio Ho Motor. This model was the country's 1999 Car of the Year. Naturally, like most Asian Fords, it was based on a Mazda, the then-current 323. #carbrochure #Ford
@HerneThePunter It was mostly mainstream Mazdas that were reivented as Fords in some regions of the world. Europe later had it the other way round, with the Ford Fiesta-based Mazda 121.
Another European destination for the Isuzu Gemini was Germany, which received this 115bhp GTI-16V hatchback.
The 1990s saw quite a renaissance in coupés and the Mazda MX-6 was a strong contender in the looks stakes at least. It featured a proper 2-door body rather than being a liftback. The model was not replaced, however, when production ended in 1997.
An eye-catcher rather than a serious attempt to sell an electric car in volume, the Citroën e-Méhari recalled the utility car of the 1970s. Small numbers were made (from 2016) in partnership with Bolloré, based on that firm's existing BlueSummer model. #carbrochure #Citroen
For a model originally hailed, in basic 2-cylinder form, as a modern take on the 2CV, the Citroën Visa developed a surprising number of sporting variants. This 1984 French brochure features the limited edition GT Tonic, with an endearingly tacked-on bodykit. #carbrochure #Citroen
The emerging Japanese car industry came up with a few truly glamorous cars in the late 1960s. One example was the beautifully sleek, rotary-powered Mazda 110S (called Cosmo in the home market). It was a rare gem - only 1,176 were made over five years. #carbrochure #Mazda
Rover's most successful export to Japan was by far its oldest design - the evergreen classic Mini, shown in this mid-90s brochure. Japanese models had the familiar Mayfair and Cooper designations, but featured a more complex facia with standard aircon. #carbrochure #Mini #Rover
SEAT's first new model since its split from Fiat, the Ibiza used the platform of the Ronda (itself a disguised Fiat Ritmo/Strada) with a neat Giugiaro-styled body, initially just in 3-door form. Much was made of the new 1.2 and 1.5 'System Porsche' engines. #carbrochure #SEAT
