Fiat had high hopes of gaining market share in the US with the new 'sports-car-inspired flowing lines and ESV-experience-engineered' 131, which had a larger 1.8-litre engine compared to European versions. The 2-door was described as a coupé in North America. #carbrochure #Fiat
GM's Saturn division started off promisingly in 1991 aiming to do the affordable American car differently, but in later years it lost its way. The new-for-2008 Saturn Astra was an imported, rebadged Opel/Vauxhall model, in 1.8-litre 3- and 5-door versions. #carbrochure #Saturn.
The LN7 was aimed at younger drivers looking for an affordable, sporty commuter car. Mercury descried it as: 'Racy. Seductive. And above all sophisticated...This is the way man & woman were meant to drive'. The LN7 was only sold 1982-3, but its Ford EXP sister lasted until 1988.
The MG Magnette's 'flawless sporting pedigree' and 'celebrated Safety Fast roadholding' were emphasised. One problem for MG was that the body, despite some mild styling changes, was shared with the more humble Morris Oxford and Austin Cambridge (plus Wolseley and Riley versions).
MG's 1960 brochure on the Farina-styled Magnette MkIII pulled out all the stops to emphasise the new model's 'dynamic sports car performance', although the text failed to put a figure on the 'ample' power output of the BMC B-series 1489cc twin carb engine. #carbrochure #MG
Chrysler Australia's Valiant Utility was close to the end of its life by the date of this late-1977 brochure, which heavily promoted the luxury Charger version. Chrysler, Holden and Ford were fierce rivals in the big ute market Down Under. #carbrochure #Chrysler
Que sera sera... This brochure is on the Toyota Sera, defined by its doors and glass. It was another of the remarkable Japan-only products dating from the country's late 80s/early 90s economic 'bubble'. @johnos1984's enjoyable video on a modified one in Ireland deserves a look. https://t.co/1AVy3RPIr0
@therealmrbenn Yes indeed. I'm torn between it and the Pao over which is my favourite.
The Citroën C3 Pluriel, with its unusual modular roof, had a decidedly mixed reception. The Charleston special edition paid homage to the singular 2CV Charleston of the '80s, which cleverly appeared in reflection on the cover of this UK brochure.

The Honda link became the cornerstone of the company's car range, and only started to fade after BMW bought Rover Cars in the 1990s. In MG Rover's final year it was still building the 45, essentially a Honda Domani.
