At the Battle of Poitiers 1356 William Douglas and Archibald Douglas fought for the French King John 'The Good'. Scots/French force defeated. King John was captured. So too was Archibald but he looked like 'Cooks Boy' in his Master's armour and was thrown out the English camp.
