Brian knew he wanted Gemworld to be the way into a new story for these long-lost heroes, and that locale gave the book license to be its own thing and focus on these characters, as opposed to other DCU concerns outside the book. Readers wanted to catch up with *these* kids.
Omar draws, inks, and colors comics in the traditional manner, but is amazingly versatile. In the line art portions of his DOOM PATROL, he uses a style that fits in well with the other artists. But he also does the CG pages. Unbelievably talented and a pleasure to work with.
Tiffany Turrill has quietly become one of the most compelling cover artists in US comics. Working with her on LUCIFER has been a joy.
Logistics sometime necessitate editors inherit projects that are fully formed and kicking ass. That job is QA and traffic management, rather than creative. That's the case with me and LUCIFER, so I don't feel shame saying it's one of the best Sandman comics ever made.
Stjepan said yes immediately when I asked if he'd be interested in doing a visual revamp of Aquaman, and Dan was keen to go really epic with the story. I think we all felt there was a kind of underwater Game of Thrones potential in the mythos, and we dove in (heh) to that.
The new BATMAN BLACK & WHITE is edited by Ben Abernathy, Dave Wielgosz, and myself. Like the original, it showcases the vanguard of comic book art today. Only some of the amazing talents we’re working with have been announced so far. There’s a lot more. https://t.co/0iXBJDB9V5
Delighted to finally reunite with my GREEN ARROW REBIRTH collaborator Otto Schmidt for HARLEY QUINN: BLACK & WHITE & RED. He is in my view the most thoroughly modern artist working superhero comics today. Hope we get to see more of his Harley one day.
It’s simple: kill the Batman. And the Flash. And Wonder Woman. And Superman. At least, hypotheticall speaking....
Simon Spurrier & Otto Schmidt team up to imagine how Harley Quinn would take down the Justice League. And it's anything but simple. https://t.co/quqAaSoHkP
