Issue #1 is auspicious for many reasons, not least of which is the return of JH Williams III to DC, and to Batman in particular, after a LONG absence. As ever, he's done something only he can, and it's thoroughly relevant in a way I shan't spoil. Naturally, it's beautiful.

BATMAN BLACK & WHITE: The last new issue I sent to the printer before leaving DC, and, fittingly, the revival of the first comic that put me on the path to editing 25 years ago. Nobody is more reverential to the original than I, and I think we did it justice.

On sale at last: THE OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE #1. We worked on this for a LONG time. Everyone working at maximum on this one. John Ridley, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Andrea Cucchi, José Vilarrubia, Steve Wands, Mark Doyle, Amedeo Turturro. Well done, guys.

More to say about Stjepan and HARLEEN than I can fit here. Working on this was a joy. Totally in sync with SS, and with shared passion. Our support team was magnificent, and did their best for this book they all loved. All cubicle kids too; the bosses let us do everything OUR way

My assistant editor Amedeo Turturro showed me the ropes at DC on this book, which also featured work from Chris Visions and Vanesa R. Del Rey. Aesthetically our goal was to find a non-Vertigo take on JC that felt authentically him, and I think we did with this gorgeous book.

CONSTANTINE: THE HELLBLAZER was the first thing I worked on my first day at DC. It was wonderful to see my old friend Ming Doyle was on the book, and I got to know and love James Tynion IV and Riley Rossmo as well. Dark, funny, beautiful. This is one of the best Constantine runs.

Crucial to the story was the mother-daughter love/hate/rivalry relationship at the heart of all this sci-fi madness. I think it's one of my favorites Simon has done, and it's a gorgeous showcase for Rachael, Felipe and Simon, who turned in big, bright, and beautiful work.

MOTHERLANDS: my first of five Vertigo books. I inherited this insane pitch from Simon Spurrier about a mother-daughter bounty-hunting team in a future where bounty-hunting is the most popular reality show in the multiverse. I thought, only Rachael Stott can draw this.
