But thinking about this, I do wonder what fandom they could get into that would allow them to be silly without getting caught up by boomer gate keepers like me, and veggies tales is all I had in mind... Or animal crossing but I'm in that fandom too.

If Santa Inc is gonna have that many jewish people working on their production, I'd like it a lot more if they made a chanukah movie instead. Guilty pleasure is having a soft spot for Eight Crazy Nights. Not sure why we don't have more chanukah movies in general.

If John took a lesson from Brad Bird, and didn't stubbornly HATE writers he could've been commissioned to draw and show run some really creative products and stories.
What ever mood or drugs he was on in the 80s was the best time for his art.

I hope this helps explain why I don't like the reboot's style. It doesn't look friendly to me. Angular stiff lines. the dark and moody colors (yes they're 'warm' but they look better cooler). These Warners don't make me feel safe and I don't know if that was the point. https://t.co/biRnjwieoO

Yeah, I've come around to them because their weird art I still remember in my brain. They were allowed to be experimental, while being blobby and unpolished.

And freelance isn't like Kennedy cartoons either. That guy did terrible animations to fuck with the staff.

Who ever drew this Stimpy loaf that just showed up in co by an anon: I love it. Thank you for making it exist. I don't like reposting, but I can't stop thinking about it. I did not draw this.

He has articles insanely critical about Extra Lines in shows like Ghostbusters and He-Man, how the characters have to stay on model because they're overly detailed.
The stiffness with the new style in numaniacs prevents the characters from utilizing s-curves and long strokes.

And TomR was criticized for trying to mimic old Merry Melodies/Silly Symphonies without really 'getting it'. TMS got it, so any time they did one of these inspired shorts, it plays out just like a cartoon from the 40s.

Numaniacs has this same issue. It's mimicing old cartoons.

Lady and the Tramp has wonderful backgrounds, but the film is staged like you're watching a painting with moving parts overlayed on it. The characters aren't integrated into the settings all that well, but that the same time, you believe they belong there.
