I took the pencil artwork into @vectornator (an app I'd never used before) and built up a rough color comp.
Here's the first time I've ever done vector illustrations for a client. It's a very different process than bitmap but I'm pretty happy with the results.

They dial back the amount of skin showing and add a headband
The lesson is that headbands lead to death
Never actually seen the show but it's hard not to be intrigued by a team like this.
I'm not sure if color could have ever improved the Bone series but it certainly deserved a better shot than it got.
It needed a lighter tough, less clearly digital, Photoshop coloring.
