Good (or at least, interesting) news! A new record for highest-dwelling mammal has been set. In February, a yellow-rumped leaf-eared mouse was caught by scientists at the summit of Llullaillaco. That's an elevation of 22,110 feet!

The pangolin is found in several countries in Africa & Asia. Out of the 8 species, 6 are listed as endangered by the IUCN (3 of those critically) and the remaining 2 are vulnerable. Despite many national & international protections, excessive hunting & trafficking continues.
Although the critically endangered Bornean orangutan is a protected species in Malaysia and Indonesia, much of its range is not. Their survival depends on long-term management of large forests and protection against illegal land use and hunting.
