I’m rounding this month off with this simple teapot, which almost begs to be picked up and held. It’s an example of how the simplest, humblest of items can be elevated to something else entirely...
Even the most humdrum items can be the spark that ignites my latest artwork, whether it’s the reflection of light on a wall, or a jumble of colours on a door.
I take a closer look at the process of making art from everyday objects in my latest blog 👉 https://t.co/41KHKIP0pA
This simple, elegant red teapot is a humble little item, given to me by an old friend.
It’s among the #artworks I discuss in my latest #blog, examining how we artists elevate ordinary objects to another level, which you can read here 👉

Unlike life, art doesn’t have to be complicated! There is no right or wrong, just what you feel is right. The humble teapot, a simple object, was the most incredibly pleasurable thing to paint.
I almost want to reach out and check if it’s still warm ☕
These days, we’re all more conscious than ever about #zerowaste, and the same applies to my paints. I can use up to four coats to get the depth of colour I want for an #artwork, but the leftover tubes come in very handy for my Bubble & Squeak series 👌
Some of the world’s most beautiful and fascinating things can be the simplest - and the most inspiring.
These teapots, so elegant and unfussy, almost leap from the canvas. I think they’re as absorbing as they are gorgeous - you could almost pick them up. One lump or two..?
Sometimes the humblest object can be the most compelling reason to create.
Whilst on an Access to #Art & #Design course in 2009 I wanted to make a #screenprint and I knew just what the subject had to be: a red teapot given to me by an old friend.
Today was the #InternationalDayOfPeace, so I figured I’d share a piece that represents the peace and stillness in my life. Plants and greenery help with that.
