Hello #portfolioday! I'm Bruce Brenneise, a landscape/environments artist for things like D&D, MTG, the Witcher, Slay the Spire, and so on. Enjoy!

The general layout early on, all the major stuff blocked in.

Some reference for setting/lighting I was looking at. In retrospect based on the previous cards, I should have realized the lighting limitation. The glow on the horizon of some of these may have tricked me into thinking that some sort of dawn was possible. Hard acts to follow!

As promised, process for 'Esper', MTG: March of the Machine. Here's the final again for comparison.

@darkfetishhydra To be clear, each book has seven artists. Each did 1 interior illustration. I was honored to be brought back on for the second book for this piece!

While I wait for client work to ramp back up again, I'm going to be enjoying some personal work. Luxuriating in it!

'Serenity Interrupted' shows the balance between my art flow state and needing to spend more time with my son. He's at a very precious age and loves playing games with me.

For today, predictably, here's some GREEN art! 💚

"Phyrexian Tick Selfie" AKA the first version of "Contagion Dispenser". WotC bought a revision because they decided last minute this would be too creature-y. Fair enough. It's a fine line with Phyrexians, but selfie pose may have been too much.
