I loved this spooky, surreal figure from a painting called "Midday Sorrow." It actually inspired several different characters you'll see in the book! (“Midday Sorrow” by Àngel Planells, 1932)

Dorian rallies other “Dark Art” at the Institute to his side, and I love every one of these macabre masterpieces.

Here’s where things get REALLY wild: Everyone thinks that DORIAN GRAY is responsible for the missing baby. Yes, from "The Picture of Dorian Gray." I told you: this story is wild! 😅 (“Picture of Dorian Gray” by Ivan Albright, 1943-44)

In DOODLEVILLE: Art Attacks, the baby’s mother becomes a character too once her child goes missing! Hannah rallies lots of other characters from the AIC to help look for him. (Including the guy from American Gothic and even St. George, the dragon-slayer!)

One of the wildest parts of making DOODLEVILLE: Art Attacks was making up lots of fictional characters from real paintings at the Art Institute of Chicago. Let's start with "The Baby in the Hat," shall we? 🤣 (thread)
