Tomorrow I will publish what is surely the weirdest article I've written yet. I wanted to celebrate the obscure history of a pioneer woman developer who made games for the C64, VIC-20 and PET, but ended up finding too little and... well, too much.

Wheelspin is a 1995 Amiga game by Italian devs Floating Point, similar to Skidmarks. But they weren't really a studio, rather two brothers working out of their shop.
It was supposed to be published by UK studio Black Legend, but they went out of business shortly after the release

The Painkiller protagonist definitely looked very different back in 2002: he was a mercernary hired to kill demons called Oscar Herrera. Definitely a From Dusk till Dawn vibe. But the publisher told People Can fly to rewrite the story to better suit "American audiences".

Dragon's Kingdom was an Amiga side-scrolling action game, in development at Italian studio Genias in 1990. It was never released for several reasons, among them the main programmer, a 16 years old kid, got his Amiga taken away by his parents because of bad grades at school.

A year ago I published the history of Italian software house Dynabyte. I published a new & improved version, with new information and pictures: https://t.co/xI3gTI17gj
The small studio managed to leave quite a mark with adventures like Nippon Safes Inc and The Big Red Adventure.

The Commodore 64 version of Chuck Rock was not - as many sites report - developed by Core Design, but instead by a small 4-people team at Italian studio Genias. Core wasn't interested in the C64 anymore, but then changed their minds when they saw it.
It got a 96% in Zzap!

Speaking of obscure games, I was suddently reminded of this 1991 top-down Amiga adventure game made in Italy: "Bit in the Magic Castle".
In the intro, the knight protagonist gets turned into a worm and has to crawl all around the castle to escape.
Weird, but interesting.

Published now on my Patreon, a long interview with Westwood Studios writer Rick Gush who, beyond Dune II, was the main writer for series The Legend of Kyrandia and Lands of Lore.
Unlock for just 2€ a month, cheaper and less bitter than an espresso (promised!). Link in comments.

Here is finally the second part of the interview with Curse of Monkey Island designer Larry Ahern. I talk to him on his last years at Lucasarts (Vanishing Act and the failed Full Throttle follow-up), plus going indie with Insecticide and working at Disney.

October, time for Horror. I will update each one of my horror articles, plus publish new stuff as well.
First up, my beloved Daughter of Serpents: a Lovecraftian tale of old gods in 1920s Egypt which misses the mark but remains quite special in its badness https://t.co/7ijO3qm8or
