I'm a little late to the party, but apparently PC-98 YU-NO is now fully playable in English. Incredible.

There are 2 Eng translations for this and both have pretty egregious issues, so it's pick your poison or play in Japanese. I'm using the 2021 patch. Completely ruins the character "voices" but I'd rather that than sit through the 2018 patch's abysmally slow text #MetalSladerGlory

Even though MGSV's clear counteraction of the design trends and narrative motifs of past MG games is rather obvious, certain aspects go underexamined. Like how MGSV explicitly reverses the revelation of a secret parent-child relationship that you see in a lot of KJP games.
