Finished Stray yesterday. Probably game of the year for me. Of course I had to draw from it. I took over 300 screenshots of the environments and characters. I like how the robots have their own personality even though they all look the same.
Froggy knight! @lvl2frog fan art, great comic 😁
Haven't really done much NPR in Blender before, ended up doing a ton of small cleanup in 2D to fix the grease pencil jank. Interesting how the PNG size was massive until I removed the invisible dithering. Reduced file size by 80%.
Some sketches from The Ascent today. Played it on stream yesterday. That game has so much style and worldbuilding, I love it.
Started with a silhouette and filled in with "sub-silhouettes". Interesting how much material you can indicate with just 4 values
Lineart experiments. Found that perf is tied to poly count. Explicitly setting high poly collection to exclude from lineart, and making lines from low poly increased perf by 10-100x.
Added line weight by baking light/ao to vcol and converting to vertex group. #b3d #greasepencil
Bit shocked I'm still making progress on this, added some feet. Trying to ruthlessly dissolve anything that doesn't contribute to the silhouette or shading. Bit chunky still but I think it's serviceable in the context of the whole suit. Only knee pads and gloves left o.O #b3d
A leg has been created. The retopo took a bit, but it's satisfying how smooth and low poly it is. The whole thing is still under 30k tris.
Just missing lower arms/legs, and then only details/UV/baking/texturing/rigging/shading/animations left 😩 ... Better not think about it
Wanted to try designing something with the help of AI today. Ended up with a frog themed cyberpunk protagonist, sorta like V. Stream chat named her Effie or F for Frog.
My reference was almost entirely prompts from DALL-E. It doesn't do the design for you yet but gets damn close
@frogofthe I made a painting study of him 🐸
About 3 hours of digital painting with Krita.
Been really enjoying practicing sculpting again for a change. For the Baron of Hell I had finally enough brainpower this morning to practice separating as many pieces as possible, turned out cool. Guy with the tree in his head is Harold from Fallout 1/2, quicker sketch.
Added a rifled barrel, some pipes and some detail to the chamber. I spent an embarrassing amount of time worrying about the topology on the pipe connectors that won't even be seen...
All that's left is a bunch of details and making sense of how it all connects and moves 🤔 #b3d
