#throwbackTHURSDAY This drawing is ballpoint pen on watercolor paper. I washed on some unbleached titanium acrylic on top, then some wood varnish on top of that, and then some white acrylic on top of the varnish layer!

#JazzDay Today is the last day of Jazz Day posts :) This book changed my life. It was my 1st book, and I gave it all I got. I'll never forget when I finished, &screwed shut the box my dad made me to ship off the paintings. Was up all night & started yelling & jumping up and down!

#JazzDay This portrait of Duke Ellington is a homage to Gary Kelley. As soon as I received the project and realized I would be creating jazz imagery, my legitimate first though was "well, try not to emulate Gary Kelley's legendary jazz illustration too much."
