How its done : recreating Greek the design of Louvre K240 vase (Dyonisos procession).
1. Work on separate drawings.
2. Flatten designs to adjust perspective from vase to plane.
3. Draw with different colors on separate layers in both GIMP and Inkscape programs.
4. Recombine.
