Decorated hats seem to come in two parities. I used only one in the game. I tried to find a shape (a "hat rack") that would tile with both parities and found some options but it made the game a little too complex. Here are some opposite parity decorated hats (not in game).

Found a gap. So a simple "put tiles wherever you want" rule won't work.

Today's Hunt and Reffert 2023 star cluster paper moves me a giant step forward towards having the data I need for rendering the 38 Milky Way star (and map) skyboxes for the virtual starship. Here are diagrams showing the data needed and locations for the immersive images.

... it also allows the opportunity to visit locations accessible to few or no people like the deep ocean or the Orion nebula (image credit: Hubble space telescope)

Here's a low resolution version of the image I used to create the sky view. Of course it looks much much better when projected as an 8K sky in my Quest VR headset.

Interesting paper out today on the density of red clump stars in the outer galaxy. The paper claims to detect an Outer arm although the images do not clearly distinguish Perseus and Outer structures. https://t.co/HJOcAK7leM

Interesting thread on a paper on Upper Scorpius and the Ophiuchus dark cloud, which is one of the regions you'll be able to visit in the virtual star ship. Here's a minimap. Paper abstract: https://t.co/mPR4lvmoqo https://t.co/hW6WNufPOn

Here's the second Webb Milky Way object, two images of the planetary nebula NGC 3132, also called the Eight-Burst nebula or the Southern Ring nebula, next to a top down map showing its position above the Vela Dark Clouds.

In HI4PI velocity, this region is quite the bubble bath. is this a paper for you or your colleagues?

Interesting to compare my density map with Eloisa Poggio's overdensity map.
