The north Tyne, a few miles north of Newcastle is a great spot to watch hunting Swifts, especially as the day draws to a close, watercolour sketch of a memory from last Summer
A quick after work visit to Bellasis bridge to see how this year’s Sand martins are faring. A dwindling colony it seems, in line with the past few years, quick watercolour sketch done at home. Have a good night all 👍
Newcastle Nun’s moor yesterday evening, a lone Ring necked Parakeet battled through the Swifts away to roost #WorldSwiftDay & Peregrine watercolour art done this morning. Have a great week all 👍
Some sketching off the tv in watercolour tonight, some nice Osprey footage #springwatch 👍
Watercolour of the garden Dunnock, nesting in the same hedge as the blackbird, possibly on it’s second brood I think
Such a relief to get amongst some fields & greenery, Just a few miles out of Newcastle on my bike and see and hear some Rooks rather than Wood pigeons ! Watercolour sketch done at home
Sad to report full predation of the Skylarks nest, evidence points to Corvid (nest torn out, eggs swallowed whole). I knew chances were slim, always never usually less than a dozen Jackdaws food searching nearby. Never trust a thieving Jackdaw ! Have a great weekend all 👍
Never tackled a Starling in w/colour - the myriad of stunning colours always put me off - in strong light anything goes with this lovely bird so had a go. They don’t seem under threat here, although vast roosting flocks to the city centre are long gone

A couple of watercolours submissions, 2 from today and an older one for #CountryfileBirdArt @BBCCountryfile Have a good night all
Lovely afternoon on the Nun’s moor, Newcastle, studying the Skylarks. Although not on the same scale as a good few decades ago, the population looks reasonably good, with singing birds and therefore territories close together, watercolour sketch. Have a good night all 👍
