I'll just say this: certain things that were featured in the comics whether in the form of covers, Sonic-grams (e.g., see the one with Justine), or literally in the issues themselves did feel like provocative jabs that perpetuated ship-character tension and wars. For example, show anyone who isn't acute to Archie lore but know of Sonic and Sally's existence. I bet 10 dollars you they'll say Sally and Sonic (maybe add an "but younger/with a different outfit/eye-color mistakes".).

A major pet peeve of mine regarding character designs is when a character is just an uninspiring clone of their parent or vice versa. No, an outfit, hairstyle, or eye color difference doesn't fix the ctrl + v issue.
A glaring, soul-irking example of this to me is in Archie Sonic.

It's even worse when some try to say it was done purposefully in efforts to shill Amy or to have Amy look more competent... As if Amy didn't have her times of being immature, reckless, temperamental, and/or silly while Sally was behaving practical.

I still don't understand why some fans assert that Sally somehow is dumber, ditzy, less sassy, has shed her dynamic with Sonic, and/or less Sally-esque in the reboot.

It's fine not to like this rendition (I prefer other Sally designs and portrayals myself), but where?
