An unusual handcoloured woodcut depicting the Guru Gobind Singh ji sprinkling five of his followers with amrit, Punjab, c.1870. The scene depicted took place in 1699 at Anandpur Sahib ji, a site which was founded by the 9th Guru Teg Bahadur ji. 1/2

Amongst the first things taught in school were evergreen nursery rhymes which were then proudly recited at home. In later years one dissected them & laughed how the 8-10 liners were quite non-sensical but still enjoyed listening to our children recite the same.
