@comic_ci_tizen Just a great series. I heard it was cancelled when Thing stayed behind on Battleworld after Secret Wars. I wonder if that was a John Byrne call to shake things up during his run. She-Hulk fit the team nicely, but the stature of the FF in the Marvel U was never the same again.
Holy wheat cakes! '70s Amazing Spider-Man artist Ross Andru's version of Peter Parker looks eerily like Chris Pine (who also voiced him in the animated film). Reading comics after a week of #DnDMovie ads finally helped me see the resemblance. Here's a thread of samples...
@superdoug77 Lifelong ASM guy but Mark Bagley's 90s run made me quit for a time. Years later, Dark Crystal concept artist Brian Froud illustrated a novelty book dubbed "Pressed Fairies" and I quickly realized all those poor, squished pixies were making Bagley faces as they died. The horror!
@cinsoundradio @TheFilmScorer For archival titles, I design a few options (or way too many, as with Trek II). The producers/ label then pick a winner and the package is sent to the studio & composer reps for approval. Some nice covers do fall by the wayside, so I'll try to share over at my Behance portfolio.
@SupSpiderTalk I would also ditch the overwrought coloring. Romita Jr's line and Hanna's inks are robbed of their style/energy when everything is shaded. It just flattens everything into a muddle. Keep those inks black, 90s style.
I've been revisiting Jeff Smith's #BONE again, this time with my 11-yr old son, and he absolutely fell over laughing at this and then lost it again at the gag with the apple pie. Such a great series. Can't wait to get to the cow race.
17/ My solution was to separate Radcliffe's head and the owl entirely from the painting, then recombine the two. To blend everything together, I added a painted backdrop and then airbrushed shoulder details to convincingly match Struzan's style.
