Italian artist Marco Ricci (1676-1730) painted 'Apollo and the Muses' during his two year stay in England. It's serene heavenliness is a stark contrast to the artist's dramatically dark life.

Both machine and hand stitching was used to make these lovely pink silk shoes from 1905. Designed with a high back, red leather covered heels and a large bow fastened with a metal clip.

Pre-Raphaelite member, Henry Holiday (1839-1927), designed a series of tiles based on the fairy tale, 'The Little Mermaid', written by Hans Christian Andersen. They were produced by Minton Hollins & Co in c.1880. #FairyTaleTuesday
