STRANGE ACADEMY PRESENTS: DEATH OF DOCTOR STRANGE #1 by Skottie Young and Mike Del Mundo
Oh! Another tie-in! And this time to a book I'm already collecting! Alright, sure, this is shaping up to be a very interesting story.
👊 THE DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU 👊
Though Iron Fist may indeed have been my entry point into this corner of the Marvel Universe, as I read further I become more enamoured of the rest of Marvel's martial arts masters. I plan to read as much as I can and celebrate them all in time!
@AnneComics Y'know that thing about flipping your art to check you haven't misaligned facial features or whatever? Yeah... Maybe lower that eye just a smidge?
HEY EVERYBODY IT'S #NEWCOMICBOOKDAY
Here are my Top 4 picks for today.
Barbarella #1
Champions #8
Die #18
Spider-Woman #13
What are you reading?
Big fan of imagery that depicts the Marvel Trinity as ideas that are accessible to anyone, ever changing to fit the times but remaining steady at the core of the Avengers.
@AnneComics OH?? You wanna start reading about IRON FIST?
For a serious story focusing on Danny discovering the legacy of the Iron Fist, read THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST (2006)
For a lighthearted story focusing on Danny passing that legacy onto his apprentice, read THE IMMORTAL IRON FISTS (2018)
Overall that was an excellent first chapter! It makes its intent really clear, showing us the light-hearted yet totally earnest tone and dedication to martial arts as a strict practice and beautiful art form, and establishes three core characters with instant likability.
I've never heard of this comic before but hey, you make a comic called THE MODERN FRANKENSTEIN, you tell me it's by some folk who worked on Doctor Who, well baby you've got my interest.
